1) Academic Coach

Job Description

The Academic Coach works with Japanese youth to help them achieve their immediate and long-term academic aspirations. At the core of this mission is preparation for entrance exams such as the SAT® and TOEFL iBT®. In addition, the Academic Coach teaches courses in critical thinking and philosophy, debate, leadership and public speaking to prepare students for their future educational careers.

Responsibilities include:

– Teaching academic courses to help improve English fluency, comprehension, and critical thinking
– Teaching strategy-based courses for standardized tests such as TOEFL and SAT
– Designing engaging and effective lesson plans consistent with existing curricula
– Serving as a mentor for students seeking to become global leaders
– Helping students prepare for entry into top tier universities in Japan and abroad
– Designing and running professional development workshops for all staff members
– Initiating and/or collaborating on new projects to support the growth of the company

Qualifications

– B.A. from a top tier U.S. university in the social sciences or humanities
– Possess a strong record of achievement
– Experience teaching and mentoring students
– Interest in developing leadership skills in self and others

2) Kids Immersion Program Teacher

Job Description

igsZ’s Kids Immersion program is a unique program that teaches children ages 5 – 12 through creative, comprehensive, and studentcentered lessons. Children engage in study of meaningful content such as science and the humanities while leaning English in an immersive environment. Students are further challenged to develop global leadership skills.

Responsibilities include:

– Teaching classes of up to 10 kids
– Modifying and improving the existing curriculum
– Designing new lessons consistent with existing curriculum
– Teaching phonics, grammar, and writing to provide a solid English foundation
– Teaching basic speech and presentation skills
– Facilitating workshops such as Drama, Arts, Chinese or Programming
– Running teacher training workshops for current and new teachers

Minimum Qualifications

– Share igsZ’s vision on global leadership
– B.A. or higher degree from a Top Tier U.S. university in education, linguistics, or TESOL
– Possess a strong record of achievement
– Experience teaching
– Interested in developing leadership skills in self and others
– Capable team player in a multicultural start-up environment

3) Global Leader Intern

Job Description

The igsZ Summer Internship Program offers an exciting opportunity for college students to make social change in education in Japan. Interns gain work experience in a dynamic startup environment, build their teaching and leadership skills, and receive stimulating programming provided by igsZ. Furthermore, interns can experience diverse Japanese corporate cultures by taking short-term assignments at partner organizations in Tokyo, Osaka, and/or Shizuoka. The internship program spans approximately ten weeks, taking place June 13 ~ August 19, 2017.

Responsibilities include:

– Facilitating workshops on topics such as the U.S. education system, college admissions, and critical thinking
– Planning and teaching summer enrichment workshops to small groups of motivated Japanese students
– Serving as a near-peer mentor to high school students who seek to become global leaders
– Serving as a teaching assistant for full-time teachers
– Researching, designing, and running professional development (PD) workshops for all staff members
– Initiating and/or collaborating on new projects that support company growth

Minimum Qualifications

– En route to earning a B.A. from a Top Tier U.S. university
– Possess a strong record of achievement
– Interest in teaching and/or mentoring Japanese high school students
– Interest in developing leadership skills in self and others
